HMC41 and HMC150 - shooting indoors - low light problem?

Hi All.

Please forgive me for the newbie questions.

I have decided to go on the HMC41 (or the 154, still investigating the pro's to price...).
Once my friends heard about my choice, they are all complaining that the HMC are bad in low light and indoors without extra lighting will not come out as nice as on other cameras such as Sony.

Can you advise on this? what's your experience?

Thanks.

It's not that as the lighting level drops, you have to put away the camera. Here's one of the early tests I took using different settings at night on a well lit street corner:

By converting the footage to SD, you can push the gain a bit more:

If you allow for a 1/2 second exposure and high gain, even the night sky and stars are possible:

The HMC40 doesn't have the sensitivity to shoot available light very well. At +12 gain under 100w-150w household lighting fixtures at dusk, you'll have a hard time getting proper exposure.

The HMC150 is a MUCH better camera for low light with performance on par with the HPX170 (same image chipset). If you're shooting primarily available light indoors at night, this is the better choice.
