HMC40 Still Frames

All:

Just signed up and looking to pick up HMC40 soon to compliment my Canons. I am curious about the still frame quality and does the Camera have the capability to shoot stills while rolling video. Example: I had a Canon HV-30 that did that ran about 3 fps for still while rolling video with affect to the video like the 7d has. It worked for alot of things I shot with it. I mainly shoot run and gun Journalism, so still frames would be great. The HV30 paid for itself numerous times be able to do both.

I searched the forum as much as I could but could not find anything....

No, it shoots stills in a different mode than video. You have to choose whether you want to be in video mode, or stills mode.

As for stills quality... meh. Not in the same league as a dedicated stills camera. But certainly better than just frame grabs from video.

The HMC40 is pretty darn amazing for video, in bright light scenarios. The stills feature is just added on, but it's definitely not the primary reason to get one. If you've got enough light, the HMC40 does a fantastic job. I can't tell you how many times people buy one, and the first question they ask me is: why aren't more people talking about this camera?!?

Frame Rate in Stlll Mode?

Just curious what the frame rate is in still mode, I assume it no were near my 7d rate of 8fps.
