Hey guys, I am about to shoot a short for a 48 hour film festival and have a few questions about the different settings on my HMC40. I have filmed a few different shorts with it, along with my friends DLSR, but this time we really want our camera's to mix really well. Our main goal is to shoot a very flat image, in order to have more control in post to color correct. I honestly have no idea which settings will best achieve this goal.
I have messed around a little bit with the different settings within the scene files, but really don't have enough time to test footage with all of the different settings.
Any advice on the gamma, color detail, matrix, knee settings would be greatly appreciated. I'd like as flat of an image as possible
Here is a short action sequence we threw together that contains some of the issues I mentioned. The blacks are really crushed, and didn't give much ability to correct in post. I know the lighting was mostly to blame, and the bad job of white balancing when changing locations.
Thanks for the help.
