Hey guys, new to this forum, I have just moved into the HD world and got a HMC40, one question, with the SD card, when I place it straight into my laptop or via the usb cord the footage that I have filmed isn't on there, the computer recognizes the camera and I can open up the folders but they seem to be just the source folders but not the actual scene files.

any ideas? thanks in advance...Cooper

Assuming you can go to the playback mode and see the clips...

The video files are very deep in the folders:

PRIVATE --> AVCHD --> BDMV --> STREAM --> xxxx.MTS (the video file)

Thanks very much for that, I found them, they just wont open , I think I need a plug'in of some sort, thanks again for your help. I am still set in the tape world of filming and editing.

(1) Can you get the camera to play back the clips?

(2) Which computer are you using? PC or MAC Which OS (Version) are you running?

The clips playback fine on the computer. I downloaded a program called VLC media player which helped me open them on my computer but they were playing glitchy, where the video freezes but the audio plays which I am guessing could be my computer needing more ram?
I am using Vista at the moment. thanks!

What capture program are you using? I have premiere pro cs4 but when ever i go to the capture menu it wont recognise the HD clips unlike when I was filming with tapes SD. thanks

I just answered my own question, however the files are still very glitchy, like when the video cant keep up with the audio style. I am just wondering if its my computer I have the following..
2gig ram
32 bit operating system
intel duel core
1.66 ghz

the harddrive is fairly full also.

thanks in advance!

I can not open them in FCP because even the way I described they do not appear in the Log and Transfer!
I've tried everything, even uninstalled perian to see if it was anything but will not in any way?

So you are using Final Cut Express? and not FCPro? Which is why you would have to use the intermediate codec and not ProRes?

Best,

jan

This manual by yourself that much helped me with this problem!

Million thanks

*PS: I'm used FCP Pro 6.0.6

hey guys, It seems to be my processor that is the problem, I downloaded the AVCHD viewer and the footage plays through that but only at 10 fps as it says my processor cant handle it, which is weird.

also I discovered having the right settings then starting a new project in Premiere cs4 helps. thanks for your help. i wasnt starting the project through the avchd settings.
