HMC40 on Glidecam 4000?

Can the HMC40 be used on a Glidecam 4000? The Glidecam is designed for cameras weighing 4-8lbs. so I am a little leary. I am debating whether to rent the HMC40 or a Sony Z7U camera for a wedding that I've got coming up. The Z7U would surely work but is also about 175 bucks more to rent. Thoughts here?

Well, couldn't you add some weights to the HMC40? As such:

Code:
  H
N H N
PPPPP
W G W
B G B
  G
  G
  G
H = HMC40
N = Nut
P = Metal plate with holes drilled for tripod screw and weight bolts.
W = Weight
B = Bolt
G = Glidecam

I own a HMC40 and a Glidecam 2000, it works, very stable. I've also put on a wide angle lens and a shotgun mic on the HMC40, but I could only hold the glidecam for a few mins because of the additional metal plate.

FYI, Z7U has a 1/3 sensor and HMC40 has a 1/4 sensor. If you shoot at low light, the additional $175 will worth it, but in day time, save your $175.

Yeah this is for a wedding so the lowlight capability of the Z7U will probably be worth it. Also, I've gotten a deal on a Glidecam 4000 w/ Vest and Arm so it should fit just fine...not sure if the HMC40 would be too light for the 4000. I could always add weight but im just looking for mobility. I think the Glidecam for the wedding will be a valuable piece of gear...allow me to walk around all day not having to worry about "carrying" a camera. Plus the footage will be silky smooth! :)

I see, I'm wondering does the Glidcam with Vest and arm will affect the mobility at a wedding. Well, I have never use a Vest before but it seems like wearing the whole set together is very bulky. I can't imagine myself to find it useful, especially at a very tight and small space, unless it was a big budget wedding.

For my wedding video, glidecam only content a very small portion of the whole video, but even with just a small portion, it will definitely enhance the viewer's experience. However, most of the time I either use a tripod or monopod, and I always use a shoulder pad.

Well, on the other hand, Vest and Arm is over my budget :]

FYI, I am selling my HMC40, I'm selling the set over at http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=213790
maybe we can work on a deal.

Anyway, good luck
