Hey guys, I just got the Rode Videomic for my hmc40. It's great and all, no complaints honestly, but I do wish I could remove the port cover on the right side that hides the mic input. I wouldn't mind so much but it's right in front of the hand strap and it kind of gets in the way. Is there anything I can do to remove this short of cutting it off?

I had the same question when the camera first arrived - but I found it can be detached with a firm pull/twist. The plastic tab doesnt break or anything, so you'll be able to replace it later. (I may have unscrewed the little cover plate to do it - havent got the camera with me right now - but I dont think I did..)

I'd like to remove it as well but then I think of what about when I'm not using the ports, there will be dust..
I found a way to hold it against the mic plug (when a mic's plugged in) so it's kind of parallel between the plug and the lens hood, seems to be the most comfortable position..
