I have been shooting video of my daughter since I bought the HMC 40. This really illistratrates the poor quality of low light with this cam. Outside it looks great, but inside without ligthing(unless you have a skylligght - which some shots look great) but most just look poor quality. I think you wll be able to tell which ones I mean. To me for $1700 this is a huge issue...I knew the reviews said "Poor in low light" but man I thought it would still be better than my old $300 cam, but it is not. Everything else is great on this cam but the low light perfromance. Which for my shots of my daughter are mostly that because I just grab the cam and try to get her doing something cute...but for planned movies and shots this is a great cam.
Not all the shots look bad because some I did outside but I think you can tell a difference. I did some CC in post to hype the colors and tweak the brightness. Also note I did not have any ND Filters used for the outside ones. I did get some for Christmas but none of these shots used those.
