I just read Barry Green's article on Aliasing which gave words to my lack of satisfaction with the results I've been seeing with my D7000 & 11-16mm Tokina and 14mm Sigma lenses. It appears that I'm out of luck at least for now trying to get decent sharp, moire-free, wide angle out of a DSLR.

Does anyone have the HMC40 and a .5 wide angle and a DSLR with a 14mm ish lens that can do a side by side comparison? A screengrab at 1080 would be ideal.

Sorry in advance for cross posting...

I searched and found the other threads, but it is difficult to compare that way. I was hoping that someone with the right combination of equipment could could post a side by side comparison between HMC40 and DSLR. Same scene, same lighting, similar focal length.

To phrase my question differently... this is what I'm able to get with Tokina 11-16mm at 11mm. I'm not happy with the sharpness in these shots. I'm coming from the photo side, so maybe my expectations are too high. Is this acceptable sharpness for 1080 video? If not, is the HMC40 with wide angle attachment capable of sharper results?

I have an HMC40 and 7D but I don't have a wide angle for the 7D, I think the lens is the std 18mm to 50mm. I bought a cheapie wide angle in May and used it a few time shooing tornadoes. I didn't notice any real loss in sharpness but I shot a video the other day using it and noticed is was a little soft. It was only $150 though so perhaps a more expensive one would be sharper.
