HMC151 / Rode NTG-2 + SM5

I'm looking at ordering a new mic tomorrow, and was looking at the Rode NTG-2 with the SM5 suspension mount and Rode Dead Cat.

Any reason these would cause a problems on the HMC150/151?

Any problems with the SM5 mount?

I think I am going to have to agree with you. The 'indoor' foam and dead cat are pretty useless outside.

Do you have any personal experience with the Blimp?

Be aware that the hair from the dead cat might get into your frame. The suspension mount might fix this problem, but i don't know.

Been very happy with my NTG-2.

Thanks for the reply. I have the NTG-2 and cat now - but while I'm generally happy with the mic itself, I'm not happy with the residual wind noise even with the dead cat on.

Yes I am using the mount so I'm not seeing hair in the frame.

I'm looking at the Blimp as a possible solution - but would like to hear from some one who has one.....
