HMC150 Warranty Workaround

I'll be selling one of my 150's in the next week or so (279 hours/Ext. batt/$2300). I have about 16 months left on my 3 year warranty, and I'd like to give the buyer a little piece of mind in case there is a problem after I sell it.

If I download the absolute latest firmware prior to shipping it, is there really any reason for the new owner to register the camera in their name? Since firmware updates are all they're really getting with registering, I thought they could just send it back to me if it needs repair work.

I'm not trying to fool Panasonic or anything. I know they generate more new sales buy limiting warranties to the original owner. But if I was a potential buyer, I think I wouldn't mind a previous owner doing that if the camera goes kaput after I received it.

Any thoughts, suggestions, riddles?

Gates, you ARE trying to fool Pannasonic. FWIW, I think the warranty should be transferable...maybe with a nominal charge.

You're right, I would be if that's what I ended up doing.

And you're also right in that it should be transferable. But if it was, maybe they'd lose a few new sales.
