HMC150 w/ Wide angle adapter comparisons?

I don't know. Doesn't it seem like there's barrel distortion on both sides of the video? I wonder if it's just with this manufacturer because I was thinking about getting the Century Optics 0.6x adapter, instead. Is something like that fixable in post, somehow?

Yeah there's a bit of distortion. I suppose you could always use a bit of reverse spherize to fix it? Maybe someone else has a better way, I'm not sure.

I bought this lense anyway though. The reviews were pretty positive and articles I found about 16x9's products said they were a pretty good alternative to century optics. I was going to go with the century optics wide angle but it went from $295 to over $400, not sure if it was just a price jump or a replacement product but this one was $260 so we'll see. . . .

Got my cam and the lense adapter today. Played with it briefly. There is indeed distortion. My experience with wide angles has been with 4:3 footage previously so I'm not sure if this distortion is going to be something that just goes with the territory. It is an 0.6x adapter. The only other 0.6x adapter is the century optics one which costs another $140 but I'm not sure if it's going to cure the problem.

The alternative would be a substantially more expensive 0.8x adapter which might solve the distortion problem, but might not be wide enough to even be worth it.

I tried correcting some 4:3 wide angle footage I have by using Vegas' deform effects (Pinch/Punch and Spherize are too centralized and even at their max size/amount don't reach the corners of the shot). I used deform curve on the left and right and slightly cropped. Not bad, but the distortion is much less than with the 0.6x on the HMC. I'm going to try this process later with the HMC footage and see if it's usable.

I just hate to go through the hassle of returning this adapter, spending extra money on another, then finding out it's got the same problem.
