HMC150 vs HVX200a Advice?

Maybe not technically, but it's more of a distribution format than, well, just about any other form of HD distribution. AVC-HD on an SD card or burned to a regular DVD-R will play on just about any blu-ray player or PS3, won't it?

I, as well, would like to hear what people recommend for transcoding AVCHD. I edit in Vegas 8.0c, Vista 32b, with a new Intel Quad Core, 4gb ram, etc...I have heard it handles native files, but do you get better performance, i.e.. frame rate, preview if you transcode to something else?

Very curious.

Edius has a program you can download to convert avchd to AVI's... Don't know about the quality output compared to other programs but it lets you set the bit rate from low to a very high (best quality rate) it converts footage in almost real time on my laptop.

When Panasonic releases the HMC40 for sale in August, will it have the same image quality as the HMC150? What are the main differences & why would I shoot w/ the 150 over the 40?

Time to get another camera and now I am in real turmoil over whether to choose the hmc150 or hvx200a/hpx170

I really do think the hmc150 is sharper in 1920 1080 mode.. but to deal with avchd that I know nothing about scares me. Has anyone shot rez charts with the hmc150?
