Hmc150 & sd9

I have my first shoot which will involve mixing footage from both of these cameras. The SD9 will be in 1080i mode (I dont want the light loss with its 24p).

The end product will be a SD DVD.

My question is what are the opinions on the best mode to shoot the 150 in? I'ts a wedding ceremony so all are suitable apart from 24p (IMO). The footage will be Transcoded by the Panasonic transcoder software so i'll be able to edit in CS3 with relative ease.

So far I am assuming it will be best to match the SD9 at 1080i. However I have read that this isnt the best mode to downconvert from. Would I have issues in CS3 if the SD9 is 1080i and the 150 is 1080p????

Thanks

I've matched both cams pretty well. If you are not using the 24p option then I'd say to go with 720p, 30 or possibly 60 for the slow mo capability. I've shot with the 24p on the SD9 and I think its pretty good too. Make sure to have the cinema color on the SD9 and to try and get the best exposure you can. The SD9 looks great when you have tons of light and terrible when you don't. I've also found that I get much better results when I do a manual exposure. The SD9 tends to auto expose the hightlights to be too blown out..

Good luck and you can definitely get some decent shots. Also, use the SD9 as the wideshot...

Thanks Justyn, you're right about the SD9, it's excellent when you have enough light and dire when you dont!

So putting the SD9's 1080i footage and the HMC's, say, 720\60p footage on the same CS3 (after transcoding) timeline wont be an issue?

Thanks again
