HMC150 or Sony HDR-AX2000

Ah they finally labled it and its ready for pre-order...

Looks like a nice cam, but yeah no 720/60p?

I wonder how its low light compares - they claim 1.5lux but thats a bogus measurement.

Definitely meant as a direct competitor. I love my Panny, but this looks like a great option from Sony (especially if you don't feel like dropping the cash on the EX-1)

Yeah, but you do get XLR... better than the FX series! it looks to me that sony is finally listening to their costumer needs. I want to see some real life performance vs the 150!!!

But for now it seems like dual slots (SDHC and memory stick), better LCD, 20X lens, better low-light ratting (depending on the noise)...

This is NOT the NX, it's the prosumer version... replacing the FX series

"While not as decked out as the HVX-NX5U (its NXCAM pro counterpart), Sony's HDR-AX2000 makes for an impressive prosumer-level AVCHD camcorder. It's also a step up from its HDV predecessor, the HDR-FX1000"

Who is going to buy one? Lets see some footage!

Errr... preorder on B&H is what a month out usually?

Sony is Sony....for me and i had in my arms Canon Xh-a1, my own panny 151, Sony z7,Sony Hdr fx1000, Sony Z1 & Z5....Sony on the touch is better quality than others....ease of use is on Sony side with quality of picture....now i think the best is for you if you already had sony, take sony...batteries, XLR mic things you wont have to buy...best part of sony products is color temperature which you can optimize even if white balance is not correct, auto audio control if you are working on weddings(which is impossible to control on hmc 150/151)....
and something on side of hmc150:
you can get so worm colors like no other, it's not bad in low light, not heavy & when you get in to those Scene settings there are many picture profiles what sometimes in post-production is impossible.
hope i helped not confused....

Would this camera compare at all to the HPX 170 or HVX 200A? Those cams cost a lot more than this AX2000 (or the HMC 150 for that matter) but this sounds like a pretty solid cam with a lot of similar features, minus some frame rate options and 720p.

I love working with Sony cams, which is why I was sad to "settle" on getting the HMC 150. This new Sony camera almost makes me wish I'd waited and purchases it. The 20x lens, the 2 card slots, and the viewfinder on the handle appeal to me, however at this point I'd still choose the HMC150 because I can't stand the thought of my footage ruined because of a CMOS rolling shutter issue.

CMOS is the only thing holding me back on the HMC150, but that line keeps fading. Specially when my costumers don't care, or don't see the difference... many many options to compare! =)

I got my HMC150's because I could not take a cam with CMOS and HDV together. Well, finally they have AVCHD in a pro format. canon is also releasing a new AVCHD version of the XHA1, or so it looks....now that would be interesting. It will retain 3 CCD's.

Mhhhh AVCHD or DSLR+Lens.... decisions decisions!!!

What are you talking about?? You are saying CMOS is acceptable by you and your clients?

I don't think its up to par when it comes to movement - but a bolted down vSLR with primes can get some amazing shots. What vSLR you considering 7d?

I still have to say 1/3 3ccd all the way

The frame rate options and 720p is why the HXP/HVX cost a lot more... Also P2 in general is more expensive.

Still HMC150 for me in a month or two. Don't want to worry about CMOS rolling shutter skew or half-frame flashing when shooting weddings. But that NX5 cam did give me pause at the $3,995 price tag. If some great footage comes out of that dealing with motion and flashing, then I might reconsider. Not expecting that though.

Not so much the HDR-AX2000 though. No 720p60 and no native progressive recording is a deal breaker.

ax2000 no.
nx5 maybe.

edit:
oh snap! they just priced ax2000 at 3500. load of crap! hmc150 is waaay better
