Hmc150 or Canon 7d for filming Skate Videos

hi,

I was thinking to buy and HMC150 for filming skateboard videos, I was almost convinced since I started to view videos with Canon 7D.... now I don't know what's the best choice... Maybe for film skate 150 is more easy to use than 7d but 150 is heavier.... Any suggestions ?

Videos I like with Canon 7d :

Thanks in advance !!

Hello,

Just keep in mind that there are inherent disadvantages when shooting video on a cmos sensor like the one the Canon 7D has. It struggles specifically when dealing with a lot of motion. Which is something you might encounter if your shooting skating videos. If you are shooting strictly video I would say the HMC150 is a better choice, however, if you are gong to be doing video and photography and cant buy a video camera and an slr then the 7D may be the way to go. Also, even though the HMC150 is a great performer in low light situations, it could never outperform the sensitivity of a CMOS sensor. One other thought, the handle on the HMC150 might be beneficial for those low angle shots where someone on a skateboard is being followed by the someone else on a skateboard holding the camera really low to the ground.

For skate videos, its gotta be the 150 any day, for all the reasons in the post above. Top handle and fold out screen! Yes please. 'Jello' / Sensor Distortion during lots of movement... no thanks.

The weight issue isnt really a factor! They are both of comparable weights (both under 2kg), however the 150 is more balanced for filming, meaning smoother shots.

Yeah i would say def go with the HMC150. it will be more useful for other videos as well.

Im thinkin bout getting the 7D myself, just to shoot afew music type videos. but we'll see

heres a quick skate video i did with the HMC150..
