I have 2 Swit 2010 lights and while they served me well in the DV era, I was not happy with them in the HD 16x9 world. Too much center light and not enough side fill.
I just bought 2 of the Comer 1800s and they look much better. Plus I like the battery in the back of the light as opposed to the battery holder that had to be attached on the camera handle of the Swit. I do wish the battery charger for the Comer's charged quicker.
I can't say enough about Taky's communication and very fast professional work in everything associated with the purchase. Even the packing was exceptional.
You guys should really consider those CHINA LED lights sold on ebay from Hong Kong. Some models have diffusers and barn lights. It comes with either a SONY batteries + battery charger or internal batteries which can be recharged using a USB cable. (Also has a power indicator) Some models can also be powered by using AA Batteries or interchangeable by using the SONY battery pack. (All models comes with a Sony charger) It looks pleasing to any clients eye. As good as a so called PRO model.
I bought 2 types of LED models for around U.S $60 per piece incl. shipment and like most LED bulbs, they tend to run for a long time.
IMHO It's more worth spending more than U.S $100 for video lights. Happy browser shopping!
BTW I'm not a salesman from a CHINA after market product. I'm a capitalist!
You'd have to search for it by typing -- Pro 126-LED Video Light for DV Camcorder Lighting #F086
on ebay. This is 1 which I would recommend out of the other 2 models. Cos it comes with a diffuser and a dimmer. But Sony/Panasonic type battries and chargers are not included unlike the other 2 models.
The other 2 models are sold by an ebayer called hkequipment.
All are Power Sellers. Should be reliable... just have to break the piggy bank,
Ohh...Boy! Hmm... I got a feeling this discussion will make these sellers very happy this christmas. Too bad it ain't me.
Good find. 70 was 1/4 3ccd... It was a good little (big) cam except no progressive and very bad low light...
I will also give some thoughts when it arrives, maybe compare to the comer.
For any of these lights with a temperature over 5000 will have to be gel'ed for any indoors or night shots... Which is why I went with the other one. I did a bunch of homework on lights and will be interested to see how a $65 light compares to the $300-400 lights I have been using. My guess the comer will come out on top!
Anyone notice LP has a $50 MIR now? Must be hard selling against Asia.
I'm curious if it's possible to install DIY barn doors of the gels (cut in half and glued to clear plastic). This guy shows a great way to make DIY barn doors: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=140312
