HMC150 Event Videography Question

I took delivery of the HMC150 last week, and have been more than pleased with the footage I've been shooting. I'm anxious to start shooting weddings with the camera, and will probably spring for a second one before my busy season starts in early-May. But before I do, I have a quick question that I hope somebody can help me out with (and I apologize in advance if it has been answered elsewhere - a quick search produced no results):

I'm imagining disaster scenarios when shooting a wedding, and I'm wondering if the HMC150 gives any warning if there is a problem with the card you're using, or if the footage you think you're shooting is not being written to the card. Something along those lines. As a user of the DVX for many years, it was always obvious when you got a bad tape - crazy things would happen on the LCD that informed you of such. My question is, essentially, will things be as "obvious" if and when there's a problem with the HMC.

Thanks!

As I understand it the HMC-150 will give you an error message if something goes south.

I think Barry posted on this but I can't remember where...

If a clip is corrupted it can be repaired with freely downloadable app (wins and mac).

Can't say... hasn't happened yet! People have reported unexpected problems in post with cards that weren't formatted before use... but that's all I've heard from others, as well.

Just for the record, though, people on the DVX forum have reported unexpectedly unusable tapes in post.. not frequently, of course, but I wouldn't say such issues are unknown to tapes.

EDIT: I did once have a problem with a BAD CARD. I was able to get the data off it eventually (although SLOOOWLY)... but the card was clearly problematic. I test every card in the computer (by plugging it into the computer and filling/reading it two or three times) before use. I've used 9 cards for about 500 hours of footage so far; no card that has passed my "burn in" has had a problem.

I know some other wedding videographers that have been using the 150 for awhile now. I haven't heard of any issues that have surfaced regarding the cards.

I'll be shooting my first wedding with the 150 next weekend, and I don't even get my camera until this Monday. I'm confident enough from what I've heard that a card failure won't be an issue.

Now loud music at the reception? That's going to make me a little anxious, but I won't know until I've experienced it.

only issue i can see with the cards is buying cheap cards haha. Make sure you are using class 4 at minimum. if you are, I'd still spring for a class 6 of a recognizable brand so you know it will capture your footage correctly.
