HMC150 and shotgun mic stereo sound question

OK.. just call me whatever you like right off the bat because this is probably a stupid question.

HMC150, using a just purchased AG-MC200G Shotgun Mic.

I have the mic on camera (BTW, has anyone else had issues with their mic being a little wobbly due to the rubber grabbers in the mount not seeming to be quite big enough? It holds it in place, but it does wobble just very slightly. Was wondering if this was normal).

Anyways. Mic is connected to Input1 (next to the hand grip). Channel selectors (inside the flip out screen panel) are Ch1-Input1, Ch2-Input2, Input 1 Mic Power ON, Input 2 Mic Power OFF.

How do you get stereo sound when using only one channel? When using the internal mic(s), you select Ch1 Int(L), Ch2 Int(R). Is there a menu item I haven't found yet? or do I need to use the mic on Input 2 and have both Channels using the same source (Input2)?

Thanks in advance.

Exactly - you plug the mic into Input 2, and dual-track that input with the selector switches. You can't do this with Input 1, only 2.

I do this with my Rode and Sony mics, works fine. Note that you do have to set levels carefully to get the stereo imaging to be central rather than slightly panned - there's no 'equal gain' control that I can find.

Yes.. there is some wobble to the mike holder and is one of the only things I don't like about the 150.. but it was the same on the HVX. You probably should use some foam or something to get a tighter fit...

Thanks. I assumed this was the right procedure, it just is not listed anywhere

I was thinking maybe some gaffer's tape on the shaft of the mic might do the same thing. Kind of a hokie design for Panasonic though.
