Hi! I am selling my HVX200 and buyng the HMC150 but I was wondering if there is any way to capture the streaming using Onlocation maybe using the Intensity pro card? Thanks!!

No, you cannot capture from HMC150 > OnLocation CS3 or CS4. OnLocation capture from Firewire only.

However, you can use Blackmagic Design Media Express to capture footage from the Intensity Pro's HDMI or Analog inputs. Media Express is included in the drivers for the Intensity card.

I assume I'm in the stone age -- but -- anyone actually using that Blackmagicdesign Intensity Pro card with Premiere Pro and the HMC?

If so -- is it great? Have you captured directly to PC from the HMC via HDMI? Is that working well?

Is the $199 version all you need, or does that suck compared to some $1299 version?

I am very interested about it too.

Seems like the $199 version is all that you need... What is the difference betwene Onlocation and Media Express? They seem to be almost the same?

I have captured from the HMC151 via HDMI > Intensity Pro and was satisfied with the result. I have had no troubles and i have captured in Media Express and directly in Pr CS4.

Cons:
- Realtime capture, one hour takes one hour to capture
- A slight audio drop out between clips (Its not the cards fault, its the cameras fault. It can be heard with headphones/built in speaker as well.)
- No timecode carries over since there is no FireWire on the HMC150

Pros:
- Video preview to video monitor
- Smooth editing experience
- Much faster render times than native AVCHD
- No more "native-AVCHD-random-jumpiness-cut-points-all-over-the-place" in CS4/Vegas

For me, the positive experiences (despite the cons) makes it worth the time it takes to capture, so its a non issue for me. No more "native-AVCHD-random-jumpiness-cut-points-all-over-the-place" makes it totally worth it and i am not even looking back at native AVCHD editing anymore. Maybe in CS5...

You dont have to buy the more expensive Decklink card, the Intensity card is more than enough.

ruplikmastik, Media Express is a capture/playback tool only. OnLocation has way more features such as wectorscopes, waveform monitor, metadata, etc, etc.

Just wondering, is the usb 2.0 in/out of the HMC150 capable of being used by onlocation as a in? Of course in a future update version.
Thanks!

No. USB doesn't support streaming video.

If OnLocation is going to work with any AVCHD camera, it's going to need to update itself to support capture boards, such as an analog or HDMI capture card.

Too bad!
Although it is a great camera. And having the monitors built in just awesome. I mainly used Onlocation to monitor signal.
Thanks.

NanoConnect goes the wrong way, that converts firewire into HD-SDI.

I guess you could use this -- but it costs as much as a monitor, and I don't know what the lag would be like, probably at least half a second as it has to build an HDV GoP.
