HMC framerate question

Brand new to the HMC, picked it up today. I have some friends with an HVX but didn't have the cabbage to splurge for that cam. I was under the impression the HMC had 60fps shooting that when imported into FCP would instantly be slo-mo. Meaning, ten seconds of footage would become 20 seconds and slo-mo. My HVX buddies do this with action stuff. After buying it I spoke to someone today who said the HMC can not do that.
Pardon my severe newbyishness..
Any thoughts or insight?

They are not totally right, you can do that but not as soon as you import it. First you have to record using the 720 60p mode. Then when you import it (I don't really know the workflow for FCP) you have to reconform it to 30p, that way it will be 20 seconds. But someone that uses fcp will be able to tell you the actual process.

Use Cinema Tools (comes with Final Cut Studio) to reconform 60p footage to your timeline framerate, then import to Final Cut.
