HMC Fisheye question

No it hasn't got the same bayonet mount. There are plenty of fisheye threads already, just use the search engine ;)

your options are either the Century Optics Fisheye shown here

or the 16x9 inc fisheye shown here

both retail new around $500. The Century Optics fisheye is bayonet mount, but isn't as wide and has less barrel distortion, which the 16x9 inc .45x Super Fisheye is wider, has more barrel distortion and is screw on. It's a you take your pic ordeal... I personally use the 16x9 fisheye, while some people go straight for the bayonet mounted lens.

I have the century optics fisheye. I think it's quite good for the price, but if you had the 0.3X century fisheye before (like I did for my SD camera) it won't impress you. Still the picture quality is very good.

well the whole HD fisheye idea is more for a professional look, not for a death lens look, if you're completely happy with the wideness of a Death Lens on your VX1000 or DVX or whatnot, i'd stay in that field, but 16x9 inc and Century Optics are giving you the option of the not so wide, but more professional looking fisheye, or sometime in the near future, the x-treme fisheye for the hmc150.

my bayonet is very similar to my dvx. My old dvx mattebox fits onto my hmc! the only differences that i've noticed is that the front element on the hmc is slightly further forward and the tabs on the bayonette mount are about 1/10th of a mm thicker. Both of these factors are causing my dvx's fish to not fit. but with a little modification its going to work 100% I'm not making any promises about edge to edge sharpness or CA but if i'm delivering skate and bmx video stuff on dvd i'm not go9ng to loose sleep over it.

to anyone who uses the 16x9 fisheye, does it have any vignetting at the corners? and is it noticeably wider than the century?

it does have a tiny tiny bit in the upper right hand corner, nothing too bothersome, and yes, I'd say it's noticeably wider then the century optics lens.
