HMC-41 how do I switch off auto gain?

I'm sure this is an easy fix. The manual doesn't seem to be very useful with this camera so I'd appreciate some help here. I'm trying to set the camera to full manual. When I dial the iris to open and keep dialing, it then engages the gain. Is there any way to disable this function? so when I open the iris right up it doesn't engage the gain function?

Sadly no!! You can limit the gain to either 12db or 24db but the iris wheel won't bottom out at OPEN..it will always go into gain. 12db gain is virtually noise free!!! I would use it happily!! It's like have ISO switching on a DSLR and only using aperture control and never lifting the ISO. BTW: I have two HMC82's but the 41 and 82 use the same firmware.
