HMC 40 and Final Cut Express 720p30

I shot some video in 720P30 and did L&T in FCE. The footage imported fine, but when played, it recognized the clips as 720P60 and plays the clip dbl time. Anyone seen this and know what to fix? It seems like some meta data problem or something. HELP!!!!:undecided

That is normal actually - 720p30 is recorded onto 720p60. I know on FCP you can in L&T have it do remove duplicate frames - but I'm not sure how to handle it in FCE - what you could do tho is take the .mov file from the import into another transcoder (ie: mpegstreamclip) and convert it from 720p60 to 720p30.

Basically tho - from everything I've read for the HMC30 and 150, if you're gonna use 720pXX on FCE, use p60, not p30 since it doesn't know how to handle converting the 720p60 container into 720p30.

OK - Thanks. I had heard that iMovie09 will digest it ok, but I just didn't want to upgrade if I don't have to since I don't really use it for anything else. Also, the sound clip is not compressed with the video footage and is truncated to the length of the video, so redigesting in MPEG Streamclip would mess up the sound.

It also seems that the footage is at a true 30FPS but just played back in 60fps, essentially giving a Keystone Cops speed look to the footage with normal sounding audio. It really seems like it is something in the P2 meta data that FCE doesn't understand. If it could be identified and changed, then I think it would fix the problem. Thanks again.
