Hmc 150 pixellating

Hi to all, i recorded a band concert a few weeks ago, and today i was editing the whole thing when i saw that in certain situation, with a very bright white light flashing, the image (when the white light goes off - just a frame or two only) pixellate a lot!

I recorded with the maximum settings, so i don't know if this is just a common avchd compression problem or it might be caused for too much information.. or it might be a casual card problem.

here is a video:

In case, is there a way to fix or solve it?

(i did not look at the whole concert now, but so far it seems the only point where this happen)

I remember seeing footage like this when the camera first came out- but I thought that firmware helped that situation out- the codec definitely looks overwhelmed in the frames you are talking about.

...The low bit-rate AVCHD CODEC can't handle the high-speed image changes, which is why you are seeing pixelated images.

You might be able to fix this by using a high bit-rate external recorder connected via the HDMI output, or switch to a different camera that can record with a higher bit-rate CODEC.

I image that a camera like the HPX250 set to record with the AVC-Intra 100 Mbit CODEC would be able to handle the fast image flashing, but you will burn through recording media way faster than the shooting with the 24 Mbit AVCHD format.

You could probably test things out by borrowing/renting a high speed stage strobe light to mimic the same conditions you were originally shooting.
