HMC 150 New Battery?

i was thinking about buying a bigger battery for the hmc 150 cause obviously just that one little stock battery wont always do the job. But will one of the bigger batteries like the 10 hour one still fit on that small charger or will i have to buy a i new one?

Is there a 10 hour battery?

im not sure if its a 10 hour battery but the bigger battery has lot more hours than that stock battery.

plus i was reading some review a guy wrote and i think he used the battery for about 8 hours and he said it had 2 and a half hours left.

so i would say around 10 hours i guess? i dont know

I don't think that's true. The camera manual says that with the VW-VBG6 you can record continuously for 230 minutes. And that's the biggest battery for the HMC known to man :). But two of those would certainly hold for 10 hours. I'm expecting for my VW-VBG6 to arrive in a few days and, like you, I was afraid it wouldn't fit the charger. Guess we don't have to worry about it...

Assuming we're talking about the same "big" battery -- 230 minutes sounds exactly right. Eight to ten hours of continuous use on a single charge sounds beyond strange.

But the VW-VBG6PPK will fit on the charger that came with that camera then?

I have a genuine big battery and an aftermarket one, they both last the same amount of time which is around 220mins so 2 of these gets me thru a full days wedding shoot.

I didn't buy it, it came with my camera as part of the deal with 2 Panny 16bg cards as well. The battery brand i'm not sure right now as i'm at work but I can tell you it has led indicator lights on it to tell you its current charge capacity. I think they are around $50-$80 cheaper but they are pretty much the same as the genuine, I reckon its a great battery unlike some of the crap that was made for the DVX series.

Could you make a photo of this battery? Unless this is an IDX battery, I would be surprised to see a knockoff working on a Panasonic camera.

Yeah, LED's give it away... IDX

IDX is a great battery, works just like the regular panny's. It however does NOT have a numerical time remaining display, just the little battery wedges. Also can check it with the built on LED tester.

The 1st year the camera was out, the OEM batts where around $170+ and the IDX was $130 I think... So back then it was a savings. But now the OEM is close to the same price, so might as well go with it.

THEY ALL FIT ON THE CAMERA AND CHARGER :)

I bought an extra battery when I bought the camera. It says it holds 230 minutes, but I serioulsy doutb that is accurate because the battery is exhausted faster or slower depending on what you are doing at various times. My previous camera, a SONY PD 170, battery averaged only a liitle over a half what it told me when I first loaded the battery. I havent shot with this new HMC150 so I don't know if it will be the same.

So, just to confirm, this IDX battery does not have problems with the camera rejecting it due to a lack of "chip"??
