HMC 150 Changed My Life

This may seem a bit daffy, but I have struggled with sharpness ever since my Mom bought me a Bolex 155 Macrozoom camera in the 70s. I always wanted to achieve the same clarity of images that I witnessed on the BIG screen with films I admired. In the 80s I longed for Panavision, ended up in TV...news..then Betacam small market production. Started to decide to give it a QUIT. Ended up at Volvo Trucks North America shooting Hi res photos of parts and whatnot..saved up some bucks and bought the HMC150. I'm in love again. This camera isn't a red or varicam, but when I saw the resolution..for only 3k..it lit a fire up in me that made me realize that I can make a movie with this thing! WOW! I'd like to hear other folk's stories of how affordible hi res has offered a dream come true.

Hey, I'm just happy to know somone else had a Bolex 155 Macrozoom! Mine was a gift from my parents in 1971 and for Super 8 it was like having a Hollywood studio camera! Oh yes, I also just bought an HMC150.

Congrats. The camera is totally a great deal all around. A completely suitable camera to shoot a movie with for sure. Given the choice, I wouldn't go back to shooting film again either way as the freedom this delivers especially if it's only going to reach TV screens is more than compensation for latitude and resolution of say 35. It's truly a great time to be a filmmakers...
