HMC 150 and DVX100 combined footage workflow

Has anyone tried to use footage fropm both a dvx100, and an HMC 150 ni the same project?

I need some help figuring this one out. I've been playing with the two, and I can't seem to get the final output to look right. Frankly, it looks like poo on a stick at this point.

I'm shooting 24p advanced on the dvx100, and one of the native 24p "cine-like gamma" setups on the hmc150. I'm thinking it's the aspect ratio and the resolution differences that are making it seem really compressed/lots of combing when I export to Quicktime movie.

Anyone have any ideas on a proper workflow for combining these two types of footage?

Thanks,

The best way would be to upres the dvx footage to match the hmc150 footage and than edit it all in the same timeline.

By the way which editing system are you using and what were the settings on the hmc so we can help you out in more detail?

True, this is the best way....

Can you get the DVX footage converted up to 720p and then put the HMC footage and DVX on a 720p timeline...

Or if you only need SD, down convert your hmc footage to 720x480... then edit in SD.

Also would like to add to this - with questions.

I have some footage shot with my HMC150 - 1080P 24fps and need to mix some DVX100 footage in with it. The dvx footage was converted or stretched to 16:9 but when I drag into my timeline for the HMC in FCP6 the DVX footage shrinks to 4:3, and its like stretched to 4:3 if that makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated and I'm still going to test some things out.

On a side note, I need to tell someone this - the HMC150 is my F*****G dream camera! Its D*** incredible. Only thing is I wish it had some sort of Auto setting for the audio.

Thanks all

For FCP,

We are editing on 720p timeline with dvx , hmc and 5dmk2 footage.
Editing time is fine, but exporting time is slow .
if your final output is sd, you might want to consider to compress the hmc footage
to 10bit sd uncompress.
Than you can edit in sd with ease and export is just a breeze for your system
