HMC 150 1.19 Firmware Update Failed

Hi All,

I used Windows Vista "virtualized" inside a VMWARE Fusion window on my Mac. This was 32-bit Vista so both the p2 status logger and the 1.19 download app loaded and ran ok - I followed the directions from the PDF and all the appropriate windows popped up and did the correct thing according to the documentation - when the window popped up saying "downloading" with a status bar, the status bar never showed any progress and eventually timed out telling me to "check my cables and try again".

I tried 3 or 4 times with the same result - now my camera will not come up normally with the firmware that WAS loaded prior to the update. The LCD is always black and I hear NO indication that anything is happening when I power the unit on and off.

Any one have any ideas on how to get this thing running again, with the original firmware? OR is it basically a $3200 paper weight at this point?

THanks,
Randy

Can you visit someone else that have a PC with Windows and try the process again?

If it still doesn't work, you should ask Panasonic some help. Try the P2 Asset Support System.

Actually, just after posting my message I unplugged the power from the camera and let it sit, without battery or wall power, for a minute or two, and plugged it back into wall power, and it came back with the original 1.16 firmware.

Thanks,
Randy

Now that you are breathing again :) ... I would never try flashing a bios using a VM or any emulation software. It's way too risky. You were lucky to recover. Find a friend with a PC next time.
