Hitchcock - starring Anthony Hopkins as the famous filmmaker

Looks really good. I like that Hopkins isn't doing too much of a caricature of Hitchcock, which would be very easy. The prosthetic jowl is a little distracting sometimes, depending on the shot. Helen Mirren looks in top form as well.

Very, very interested in this. I've read a lot about Hitchcock and also the making of Psycho (including the book this film is based on), and I really, really, REALLY hope the film will be a reasonably accurate telling, instead of mostly made up. I guess they'll have to take some artistic license in order to dramatize stuff for the audience, but if they go too far, it'll be a disappointment to those of us who studied some of this stuff. I like the director, though - everyone should check out "Anvil" - I highly recommend it.

Really looking forward to this. I hope to see it in the theater too... which I've been doing more and more rarely these days - between ticket prices pushing $20+, the noisy/disruptive audiences, the badly calibrated projectors, the parking hassles and so on, it's less and less fun... or I'm just getting old!

Looks very good, next year's Oscars gonna be one of the toughest competition wise in a long time I feel, some good stuff coming out.

I hear they're already planning a sequel about the making of the remake of Psycho by Gus van Sant....

According to reports it's not very accurate at all...I guess we'll see.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Well I did see it. Sadly, not historically accurate at all, at all. Plus really poor directing and story decisions (the whole Ed Gein/Hitchcock phantasy). But for all that, somewhat enjoyable anyhow. The recreation of the times and a few funny/witty lines. Surprisingly, decent performances from almost everyone including Hopkins and Mirren. It was OK, though frankly not very memorable. 3 stars out of 5.

9 posts to see it, Old Corpse saw it 2 months ago .. and no one else? Or did you guys not bother.

We just saw it and loved it. The opening with the TV theme and Hopkins 'Good evening' to us, set the tone for this and kept us entertained for 93 minutes.

It is a pity there are so many great roles up for current awards as Hopkins does a great job. His research of AH shows,
right down to throwing in the occasional English pronounciations. Helen Mirren, Johanssen, Toni Collette etc all did very well.

Wonderful to see Hitch cutting Psycho on a Movieola, he'd roll in his grave to know this was shot on Red cams.

The credits acknowledged they dramatised portions, maybe they did tone it down ...
