Let´s wait if Moore´s law let us get our 128GB P2 in a couple of years (was it three?) and then we won´t need to think about those little cuties.

But the sooner we get around 64GB (for one hour of 1080p) the better, so maybe it could be an option...

I won't deny that solid state would be better, but if we could get 30-40GB now, that would be pretty nice until the P2 size catches up. Plus I think it would be cheaper to make these than the current 8GB P2. They say they're in the iPod mini's, so I can only imagine a 3rd party company could make these for maybe half the price. I just don't know if they would physically fit in a PCMCIA card, or if the heat would be an issue.

Ok, why PCMCIA? they could make a Firestore-like with them Maybe even Focus is working on something like this...). We will loose metadata if i recall well, but the could get two of those 1.8 to them (60- 80GB...). That would be awesome and make our wait easier till big P2!

Well, if these were small enough to fit in a PCMCIA card, we could have P2 cards with hard drives in them, until the solid state stuff comes down in price. I have no ideas if these would be physically small enough, or have enough throughput even if raided to work. Just curious if any tech heads would know anything of these.
