GH2 Histogram produces an over exposured image

Still getting to grips with my new GH2. One thing puzzles me a little. I have set up the histrogram in the viewfinder, but find that nearly always when I adjust the aperture till it goes white the image is over exposured. Setting the lens between 1 to 2 stops down gives me a correctly exposured image. I realise the viewfinder might not show the exposure fully accurately, but even once on the computer the adjusted exposure looks far better. Do you need to fine tune the histrogram or is there something I am missing? This is on an unhacked GH2 with 1.1 firmware using both 14-140mm and 25mm lens.

cheers

The histogram is based on the camera's built-in reflectance meter, which is not foolproof and assumes it's looking at a middle-gray image. So it can sometimes give you an incorrect reading, and you have to trust your own instincts and eyes. Also, make sure your metering mode is set to Multiple. Center-weighted metering is good if your subjects are in the center. Spot metering is a very tiny target in the center of the frame, and can give you wildly inaccurate results unless you know what you're doing and are using it on purpose.

Thanks for that advice. My Nikon D5100 was set to matrix metering by default and had assumed that the GH2 was set by default to the setting that was most used according to their instructions the mutiple mode. It is now! :)
