Hirose to DC cable

Hey Gang,

Sorry for the slew of posts recently, I just have a lot of questions. I'm looking to power my 7" LCD from my camera's 4-pin hirose connector DC out.

Basically I need a hirose to DC cable. Anyone know where I can find one of these?

Thanks in advance,
T

Any particular reason why you don't want to use the P-Tap off the camera's battery plate? A cable like this one will work. This is 6" but there are other lengths available. This is just for reference.

The p-tap is fine with me. I was just unsure if power was being sent through the p-tap if using a power-supply instead of a battery.

Ahhh, I see. I don't think power is sent to the p-tap unless there is a battery installed. If you have a dionic90 or similar and run that on the camera while you are running the camera off DC, the battery will power the monitor (with that p-tap cable) all day. You may ask "why not just put the battery on the back of the monitor instead?". Well weight is the biggest factor to doing it this way. You are not adding additional weight to the monitor and thus your mounting system.

Hi to a fellow NYer .
You wouldn't want to use the Hirose connector to power the monitor as the camera taps usually have a current limit of 500ma so total draw is 6 to 7 watts. Often too little power for even a couple of Radio mic receivers

The 4-pin DC output on the HPX300 is 12v 1.5A and the DC Input on the BT-LH80W is the same, 12v 1.5A. Panasonic actually sells a cable kit that powers the BT-LH80W monitor this way if you want to use the LCD as a VF in a studio configuration. No power tap when there is no battery.

My $0.02. :)

Andrew,

So just to be clear, the 4-pin DC output (hirose) connector carries enough juice to power the panny monitor when power is supplied via DC in?
