Hip Hop videos...

Re: Hip Hop videos...

Theres no controversy, just facts, I love how people on these sites (audio professional sites as well) dislike rap and they've heard two songs by Nelly and Chingy and seen there videos a hundred times on MTV and they are experts on rap and rap videos. These are the same people who love to use words like bling, benjamins, and what ever other word taken from hip hop and bastardized in the popular culture and use it to death usually in the wrong context. I just wish that none of them had an opportunity to make a dime from a bling bling video. So excuse me if I find it annoying that someone is so knowlegeble on the 99% of the 5 songs that they have heard. Brett is right the thread did digress, if he never shot a rap video find, but why the bashing? Lets not pussyfoot around and play the PC role, we all know that rap is as synonymous with black youth as rock is synonymous with white. Is there only one kind of rock music? Hell man turn on Dave Chapelle he has a different artist on every week who is the antithesis of bling bling, just quit making ignorant blanket statements. Jeezus, well enough of that I need to finish polishing my bling bling, swig this forty and load my nine.

"Nooooo! Ain't no one understand the words that are coming out of your mouth!"

Who are you talking about?  What's a Chingy? Relax a little.  I respect your enthusiam.  Because someone dislikes Rap or the MV's that come with it isn't a personal attack.  As I mentioned, I feel the same way about Country Music.

Brett's "Rules to Making a Rap Video" was amusing and there is some truth to it.  Change the title to "Rules to Making a Rock Video" or "Rules to Making a Country  Video" and change the rules and it's still amusing.  I don't recall any bashing on the genre of Rap happening here.

As far as pussyfooting around; this group is the farthest from pussy footing around as I've seen on a public board.  Of course Rap is synonmous with Black Youth and of course Rock with White.  And?

And who is making ignorant blanket statements? I am sure the "Rules" were just in fun.

Re: Hip Hop videos...

I'm not even sure of the sub-genres that fall into rap and/or hip hop. I like some of what I hear though (Eminem, Tupac). I also recognize the fact that if it wasn't for Rap, there wouldn't be Linkin PArk, Rage Against the Machine or POD.

Which of course is just as inspired by Rock.

Which of course helped inspire Rap with Run DMC and Aerosmith

Which of course Rock comes from Blues

Which of course...

You see? It's all good my nizzle. Or am I using that out of context and bastardizing it?

Re: Hip Hop videos...

somebody just told me that theres a new kanye west video out that was shot with the dvx 100, anybody know if its true. i find it kind of hard to belive but ya never know

Re: Hip Hop videos...

I think its messed up that this topic got moved...Rock is not the only music genre that people/crews work in. Hip Hop is big business these days. All I wanted to know is who out there has done some hip hop oriented work with their DVX100 and all of sudden a stupid controversy had to start and now Hudson felt he needed to move this topic to this location!

I guess I will have to the first to post some Hip Hop oriented material to prove that is NOT all about bling, cribs, cars, and half dressed females. I use a good bit of Hip Hop and Rock songs that I produce here in my studio for soundtracks to my own work.

Re: Hip Hop videos...

Lurch, I am not sure about that, but I can say that a friend of mine recently directed a video for rapper Tracy Lee. He had a song out a few years ago called Party Time or something like that. Anyway the whole thing was shot with the DVX100 and edited in Adobe Premiere. My Director friend sent it to BET and they called him back saying that it would air on the Rap City show but I have not seen it air yet. The song is on the radio though. I don't recall the name of the song right off hand. The video was shot on the streets of Philadelphia, in a Boxing gym, and some shots were from inside the studio where they recorded the song. The finished product looked really good!

Re: Hip Hop videos...

Yo DVX100Shooter

I moved it becasue it was originally posted in the FRAME GRABS/FOOTAGE section. Since there were no FRAME GRABS or FOOTAGE I moved it to the Cafe for discussion purposes.

Twas not I who started a 'stupid controversy'; if anything I attempted to diffuse the smoke.

And I'll move anything I see fit. Kind of goes with the MOD duties.

Re: Hip Hop videos...

I agree with John's decision to move this thread.. it had nothing to do with showing clips of DVX footage (although that was the original request) , and it did a nose dive before getting back on track, and never really talked about anything being shot on the DVX.

Re: Hip Hop videos...

another person told me today that there is a kanye west video in heavy rotation on mtv right now that was shot with a dvx 100 . anybody? anybody? bueller? bueller?

Re: Hip Hop videos...

Kanye only has a couple of videos in roatation now. It has to be one of the 2. I doubt that the entire video was shot with the DVX. I would agree that elements of the video were shot with it though. I have no idea which video it is though.

Is there a way to find out that information? What equipment was used for a certain production? I know many films add in the credits...filmed in Panavision or used Panavision Lenses or such and such Kodak Film Stock...etc.

Re: Hip Hop videos...

dvx100shooter , im gonna find out which video it is tonight and let ya know, what i was told is kanye shot and edited the footage himself??? once again i find it very hard to believe but we will see
