Hip hop video

Re: Hip hop video

it's off because it's not widescreen.

maybe that's why.

if not dvx, it looks like a canon.

if not canon, it's definitely not HD nor SDX900

it's gotta be DVX, anyway, I just can't tell on a WMV web compression. WMV SUCKS!

Is it that first guy and his ultra-cheesy hand motions?

Re: Hip hop video

lol, thats actually a really cool video, I like the song too

its looks pretty good, but it has that video color for one, not sure, u can just tell. I agree it was composed for full screen, if they had shot in widescreen it would feel more cinematic

Another thing though is that the compositions just arent very cinematic. Not very many close ups etc. Look at the 3rd guy's segment. More close ups and quite a few of those slow pans and dollys. MUCH more cinematic IMO. Different lighting and post could have made it more filmy, but i think the light and color is intentional, u can tell they spent time there

either way, i like the video and the song

Re: Hip hop video

:P I had to turn it off as soon as the dude started singing (rapping; whatever its called). Looks like an XL1. That was so lame it felt like something out of Beat Street.

Re: Hip hop video

Whats so special about the imagery? You do know that DVX can do 60i and 30p as well right? Not everything will be 24P

That's true. But why would he want to shoot his music video at 60i or 30p?

You want to get a very cinematic look.

Well, at least that is what I think.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Hip hop video

I must admit that I only use my DVX for 24p.
I go to the GL2 when I want 30p, perhaps out of habit.
If I want 60i, it's usually for a really trashy look, so I use a one chipper.

I know I could do it all with the dvx...just habit, I guess.

Re: Hip hop video

i think this is for sure dvx footage. the dvx makes blown out whites look like crap. i see it in a lot of dvx footage posted here. and i hate it hate it hate it.
did i mention i hated it? :P
i shot for 4 years on the original xl-1 and it handled blown out whites way better... but i don't know about the xl-2 - i defected to camp dvx in the spring.

i think the video is good, although it's hard to take seriously. i kept laughing everytime i saw those guys and their fake herpies - i mean "hair piece". unless that was real hair! in that case, sucks to be them... ::)
it's so hard to do videos like this because the content and style is so stereo-typical you never know if it's parody.
this video reminded me of the vibe you get from a beastie boys video - and they are ALWAYS parody.

now that i write about it, i think that if this video is meant to be "for real", then it is lame.
but if it was meant to be paroday, then bravo!

hard to tell...

The "blown out whites" issue on the DVX is due to CineGamma. CineGamma has no "knee" protection to prevent blown-out whites. The XL1, XL2, and basically all other cameras have it, and the DVX has it in low, norm, high, cine_like_d, cine_like_v, and b.press gamma.

However, everyone always seems to want to use CineGamma, and CineGamma doesn't have *any* protection against blown-out whites. So it's up to the camera operator to take extra care to make sure they don't blow out, because if they do, it looks ugly ugly ugly.

Re: Hip hop video

damn barry. you know way too much! ;D
i'll have to do some test footage to see if that's the case with the whites and cine-gamma... never knew that evil, gross whitey-yellowey sickness of blown whites could be caused by the beloved dvx and it's all-too-many custom settings.

for those of you who don't know: barry = god.

Re: Hip hop video
