FS7: Higher HFR rates and image degradation.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between shooting 1080 60p that you choose in the recording format menu vs. assigning a button to S&Q 1080 60p? Is it the same quality or do you simply loose quality by activating the S&Q mode?

Sorry for the bump of an old thread!

I think the degredation only happens when you set it in full scan mode for the higher rates. When using S&Q for 4K60p it doesn't require changing the scanning mode so I would assume it looks the same but honestly have never officially run tests. Nothing has stood out to me as different so far in regular use.

Image degradation can occur with any frame rate that is over 60fps, and I have not noticed any significant difference between center crop and full-scan on my F55. But as has someone said in a previous post, the degradation problems can be greatly reduced with a little effort: Shooting organic subjects, the use shallow DoF, avoidance of high-contrast situations with lots of detail, over-exposing at least one stop, and using a top-notch lens can virtually eliminate the issues that can happen with HFR. I have no qualms at all about shooting at 180 or 240 fps when situations are right. HFR is one of the best things about my F55 and FS7. But some degradation is always there no matter what you do to mitigate it. If you want best quality, keep your frame rate at 60fps or less.
