I thought I'd share my new web series with the users of dvx. I frequently post the work of Parallel Minds but this new project is something a bit different for us.
It's entitled High School Film Project and is a web series of approx one minute episodes about two brothers making a high school film project. One of the brothers is solely there as a favor to the other and is much older, which is where all the comedy is derived from.
Although a lot of it was scripted, we ended up going with a lot of improvisation and even decided to shoot it, cut it and promote it in a very cheap style. Because if you think about it, a high school film project ain't gonna be refined and sleek. As a director, this was the hardest thing to give up - lighting, cinematography... even the sound was taken directly from a crappy, on board camera mic. HOWEVER, the neat thing about that is now the project really looks like its just a high school film project - a moment in time captured on film and thrown on the internet. I think the effect is kind of cool.
Anyway, enough rambling - I've posted the first three episodes below. There are plenty more that will lead to the finale, which obviously will be the debut of the film project these two have been working on. I think the acting's a riot and there's some great improv here. Hope you enjoy and would love your feedback as always.
Oh and a new episode debuts once a week.
