Just want to let everyone know who ever had a question about this camera to buy this dvd. It is so informative going over ever little detail of the HVX camera. I just got it in today.

I only have one question that was only briefly discussed. On the focus issue. The evtl function. I still havent figured how to use it. What should i be looking for in the LCD screen when pressing this button. It says it draws a outline on the object that is in focus. But i dont see this.

Also which of the two dvds discuss video noise. Or is it spread out when discussing the gain and the other button features

Again i highly reccomend this dvd. There is not better teaching tool

This function adds a feathered edge to the outline of objects... Sometimes it's faint, but at other times, it's useful.. It can be difficult at times to focus this camera and it's all we got..
 
Try focusing using focus assist without it and then try the same scene with it and see if you notice the difference.
On some fine lines items it almost looks like zebras when using it and it snaps into focus.

Also try focusing on different objects and while looking through the viewfinder, turn it on and off and see if you notice it change.

It can be subtle in some situations but when you know what you're looking at, you'll never turn it off.

Yes, noise is mentioned several times throughout the set, including in the discussions of gamma curves, gain, detail level, and other places -- basically those areas having to do with light level.

I second that recommendation!

I just bought the camera and the bootcamp DVD is a MUST HAVE!!! I ordered the DVD and watched it a few days ago. It is just outstanding! :)
