high motion blurs and stutters

I'm using Xpress Pro 4.6 editing in a 23.97 timeline. Shot on F5 setting using DVX-100. Used Sorenson to compress file to mpeg2. However, the mpeg file experiences blurring and stuttering on high motion, especially like cars and bicycles as they cross frame. Relatively still shots no problem. How do I fix this. Thanks.
 
Motion capture at 24fps will have more blur and stuttering as part of its inherent look. Because motion is being sampled 24 times per second versus 60, the motion will look different.

What we need to know is if it is motion blur inherent to the frame rate or a problem with a miscapture during the post process?

F5 is 24p Normal mode. Xpress Pro 4.6 cannot remove normal pulldown over firewire, only Advanced Pulldown which is F6 mode. I'd guess that's where your problem is coming from.
 
I do not get the motion blur and stuttering in the Avid timeline. Only on output. It's kind of a zipper effect especially when cars or bicycles cross frame. No problem with relatively still shots. Cars almost seem to glide across screen.

I set up a new project in a 30i timeline and imported the quicktime reference file from my 23.97 timeline so that I could output to tape at 30 frames to try and avoid the stutter. However, I can't get the picture to show up in my DVX when I click the green/blue output button next to the AVID symbol. Thanks.
 
Any suggestions. I tried to use Sorenson Squeeze to insert the 2:3 flags, but I still get that "glide or zipper" effect with high motion.
 
You will not see interlace problems while editing since the Avid screen only shows 1/2 frame (or one field in interlace projects). It is only when you see the full frame is on output via Mojo, or as QT ref, or as sequential TIFF or other graphic formats.

If you shot NORMAL pulldown, then you are kind of stuck in your current version. If you upgrade to v.5.1 or later you should be able to recapture with the NORMAL setting active.

5.1 is for Windows XP only at this time. It is a $50 upgrade from 4.x.

I get an error message when launching HD...

"Avid Xpress Pro HD .exe/entry point not found. The procedure Entry point ? enqueue frame at C digital video output @@ qae_bin "kkk at z could not be located in the dynamic link library. Digitalio.dll"
