Hi8 Is Vastly Superior To Film

Billy Pilgrim

Stye in my eye
So here's a guerilla street music video (a la Spike Jonze) I made last weekend, for the song "Hi8 Is Vastly Superior To Film" by my band The Palindrome:

Hi8 Is Vastly Superior To Film

Several times I had turned on the camera early so as to not "set up" (we didn't want any hesitation. The idea was to arrive, do it, and leave, withotu talking to anyone) and also to get some fly on the wall footage, so to speak, so I decided to take the footage and create a documentary.

The Greatest Documentary Ever Made

Note: I wanted to be discreet, so most of the time (about 97% of it) I'm holding the camera at my side, not really trying to capture footage so much as sound. The sound is pretty rough too. So on a technical level it's not like a traditional documentary, or even a movie.

Nice dude.Great track.I reckon if we tried that in my town we would of all been stabbed in the first 5 secs.

Was that John Zorn in the background with his popcorn?

Hey,

Is this the title of your project or do you personally believe an out of date format even compares to film?

It's the title. It's sort of an inside joke, but I definitely don't think Hi8 Is vastly Superior to film, then I wouldn't be using the DVX100.

Thanks. And do you mean the music? because the two guys who are dancing in the video and I are in an avant garde noise band together, and it's one of our songs. I would have been in the video too, but I didn't know anyone who could (or wanted to) operate the camera. Plus we only had three seats in the car (an old el camino).
