Hello There,

Have finished a music video in dv pal.
I want to be able to save a hi-res freeze frame for media magazines etc - how do I go about this ? I have exported frames before by loading the mov file into AE & exporting as TIFF but - is this the best quality I can get ?
IS there a way to get a stills in dv pal format (no compression) maybe but can be used for all types of media ?

I just want the best possible quality still from my music video for a magazine article - any help on this would much appreciated.

Cheers

Saving a frame in an uncompressed format (such as TIFF, etc.) is the best way to get the highest quality frame grab.  The image's dimensions will only be as big as it's original format (in this case PAL--720x576px).  You could try to uprez the image using photoshop or other programs such as Photozoom (link), which is meant to enlarge image with as little degradation in quality as possible.

The fact is tho, that DV frames are not the optimal format to use for high-res images.  That's why it's always good to have someone with a good still camera on-set to take pictures during shooting (digital still cams are quite adequate these days).
