Hi-res print capture... for printing

I debated where to post this (here vs. Adobe Premiere)...

I want to pull a frame off some footage I've captured, but with high enough resolution to use in a brochure, but am not having any luck with size. I need a pretty big (say 8" wide) image, with at least 300 dpi that looks good, not like a bad mosaic of pixels.

Please help!

You could be screwed. As DV is 72 dpi at 720x480. The only way to increase to 300 dpi is to go smaller.

I think I'm right...

or you could take 4 photos and stitch them together.. lol

You can try s-spline to upconvert the image (just like they do to up to HD)

yes.. S-spline does a wicked job for what it does.

Pro version or s-spline 2?

Re: Hi-res print capture... for printing

Just a quick question. I was reading throught the s-spline manual (downloadable PDF) and though the site, but I didn't see anything on how to upres an .avi or .mov file. Does this mean that in order to upres, you have to save the .avi out to a sequence, or a filmstrip file, (ie individual .bmp's or .psd's) or is there something that I am missing here.

s-spline is a grapgics tool for stills. You will need to export as a sequential graphic files (TIFF, etc.) The Pro version can deal with a folder of sequential files while the non pro version does it one file at a time.

Movie file uprez can be done in applications like Magic Bullet HD version. The original question was about pulling a still for a brochure and S-SPline is great for that. On my orginal ASC test uprez back to film I used S-Spline and did each frame one at a time. I suggested to them that they support sequentiual files to make it easier and they did! Yeah!
