Hi all :)

I'm Ang :)

This site looks great :)

I'm a newbie here.

I've been a newspaper printer for 26 years and have recently started making shorts which I've put on youtube.

They are crappy - but you have to start somewhere right?

Documentaries and script writing caught my eye.

:)

Hello Ang,

Welcome. Your work might not be quite refined yet, but the fact that you have started is worth something. Maybe you should share the URLs to some of your short films.

Maybe you could check out some of my material. Mine can definitely be refined.

I guess I'm a little worried of people seeing my crappy videos.
I'm not so sure why!

Eeeeeeee!

I watched a couple of them. I liked the titles in the "SargentBedlam" video even if titles like that are somewhat common.

I didn't give the URL to mine if you're interested: www.youtube.com/user/GarboniFilms . The trailer in there is for my first feature film.

You might be interested in checking out one of Martin Scorcese's early films. This one is from 1963 if I'm not mistaken. I'm definitely not saying it is bad. But if someone did not know who it was from they might be surprised to know it is from the same man who made Raging Bull and Goodfellas.

Thats exactly the point :)

The titles are common.

Plus its just me mucking around - theres not much thought put in them.

I do have pinnacle liquid edition 6. Which I'm trying to get the hang of.

I saw the youtube sites.

Nice stuff :)

Thanks for your response.

Thanks for watching my videos and saying it was nice. I'm not familiar with pinnacle liquid edition, but I know that for the editing program I use, when I first started I didn't know how to do much. But now I am able to do more.

Do you have any story ideas you could use for a film or any documentary topics you'd like to deal with?

Have you heard of Final cut?

Final cut I think only works on mac.

Pinnacle liquid I hear is the equivalant to Final cut - but for PC.

Documentaries - I'm making one at the moment for a site called al's place. It's a forum based on the show "Quantum Leap".

It's my first doco. I'm getting fans to help me out, so I do have plans to sell it to who ever picks it up - hopefully :)

I'm in the middle of writing several script now. I've been writing for a 2 years.

It's about a battle of the sexes type flick. But I have the script very roughly typed out. No visuals or sounds sorted yet though.

I've mainly made several shorts - just mucking around - for some forums I'm in.

Escape from new york, quantum leap....

Although I would like to make a few full length doco's about them.

I could always have some help - I tell ya!

I have songwriter as well as soundforge 8. So I can write and mix my own music - although I have to learn how to do that.

May I ask what software you use?

I do believe I've heard of Final Cut or Final Cut Pro or something.

I have been using Windows Movie Maker, which many people would consider not a good program. But with some pretty time-consuming and creative work you can do some pretty nice things with it, but it still is limited.

I thought Quantum Leap was a great show.

With regard to your scripts, some might recommend not getting too involved with audio and visual elements if you are thinking about sending them to agents, etc. Some people might think that things like camera movements should be left to the "technical people". Personally I would be inclined to include camera movements in a script, but I know some "industry people", at least in the States, might recommend against it. But if you are going to be writer, director, producer, etc. it might be fine anyway.

Actually - I'm not to worried about visuals or sound myself.

A mate of mine read my script and suggested I think about visuals.

Although I'm more into documentaries myself. So I'm thinking of making my script into a documentary.
