I posted this question on another forum and realize it is a tech question. Here it is:
I am new to this forum and new to the DVX100A. I am a legal videographer and am having to purchase a new camera to replace an old one. It's imperative that I have the time date stamp recorded on the videotape in the camera as well as I am recording out to a S-VHS VCR at the same time using an S cable. The time date stamp has to be burned onto the camera tape as well as the output tapes down to the second. I have pulled up the DVX100A users manual on-line and it seems to me you can choose to have the time date stamp (hour, min., second) recorded on the video (page 48 under Date/Time - Camera, VCR). Is that correct? It looks as if the time/date stamp shows up along the bottom of the screen (page 53). When I play back my tape and choose to have OSD Date/time stamp, will the date and time that I recorded it be displayed and thus be copyable to another medium with that display embedded?
Regarding audio: Can I choose to see the VU meters on the LCD screen but not have them recorded on the tape?
I mistakenly bought the GL2 without making sure I could get the time date stamp down to the second; so I have to return that camera (paying a 10% restocking fee). This DVX100A seems to be the closest match to the GL2, but with all the manual choices I need. Would you agree? Any other suggestions?

Ure dvx will do it all for you....

the vu meter records to tape but you have the option of displaying it or not...same with all other options...

u can set ure timecode and or date and time info to show on just the lcd or video out....

ull be good to go
