Hey Jarred.

I started reading the custom fisheye post...which led to dvinfo.net...which led to "Art History"...a film which is typed into my laptop right now...but instead of reproducing a statue, i wrote about paintings...oh well...

anyways, on their site i was reading the directors thoughts...and he mentions

Jarred on 2pop – a website discussing the DVX100 – amongst other things – he was one of the early coincidences/strokes of good fortune on this project – originally slated to do the behind the scenes doc he played an ever increasing role as the project continued) collectively made the camera package – which pushed our little DVX100 further than anyone had ever pushed it before.

Is this you? and what package/ set ups did you recommend? it looks great...

Re: Hey Jared.

Yeah thats me.. I originally came on to do the BTS although it turned into poo as I was delegated to more important tasks.  even on the DVD we forgot to letterbox the BTS footage so it looks a little funny (tons of headroom etc.)..
but, hopefully my work on the actual picture compenates for the lackluster job in that.

The package was basically was pretty intensive, Me and Todd (the DP) did alot of Prep for the film, selecting the filters and supports, trying various ana adapters and heads. Todd shoots on huge films 99% of the time so he picked the real stuff..  Camera package basically consisted of the following:

A dozen 4x5.6 Glass filters
Arri Wheels
Sachtler Head
Sachtler Long and Mini Sticks
Low angle Prism
Overkeeper
Mesmerizer Anamorphic Adapter
Panasonic  Anamorphic Adapter
Cine Follow Focus
Arri rods with Arri 6x6 mattebox
Cheese Plate with Bench Riser
Stedicam Package

There is probally some more, it was a good 8 months ago and thats all i can remember.

We may of had a dolly on the Grip truck but I cant remember, if we did we never used it, as the overkeeper was a much better solution.

That's the prettiest thing I have ever seen. Jared... I have a camera, editing, and sound equipment. I will move into your basement and work with you if it's ok! ;D

Re: Hey Jarred.

Re: Hey Jarred.

hey jarred, i look at these pictures and think if they shouldn't be somewhere on the new dvxuser.com tshirt ... ?

Re: Hey Jarred.

I already had the top photo made into a tshirt that I wore when I talked at the DVexpo West.. I stood up in front of all those people and pointed to my shirt to show how to use a mattebox with the ana adapter, it was pretty funny.

Re: Hey Jarred.

Jarred, I've been mostly 'lurking' in this thread, trying to absorb whatever knowledge I can. What amazes me the most is the fact that, although you're a major league star, you still have the interest & find the time to tinker with homemade DIY stuff. I find this knowledge most invaluable, since DV is my hobby, and my budget for 'toys' is ZERO. I would be most anxious to see if one day you'd have the time (stretch your day to 26Hrs, maybe?) to put all of your DIY projects & 'tips & tricks' on the Web.

Thanks for the inspiration. BTW, I'm so addicted to this board, it's almost becoming counter-productive. ;D
