Hemingway man in a suit video (thought i may as well post it)

Enjoyed the vid... echo many other sentiments about cuts and so forth... keep up with it, and looking forward to seeing your next post.
 
Ha Ha thanks IDOG. Thats kind of the feel i was going for relaxed and mellow to go with the flow of the song. The band get there creative influences from shall we say (cough cough) herbal remedies so i suppose it compliments there style of music. :cheesy:
 
Great Video, love the look and feel of it, nice color choices and trees. Same as above as far as closeups, i kept expecting the camera to dolly over and BAM a close up of the singer or a guitar passing in the foreground, I wouldnt do cuts though, just reveals with the same motion you have now to give a more layered effect. But otherwise looked GREAT! lets see more! heheh i said semour.
 
Thanks yasodic promise the next one will be bigger and badder (and hopefully some kinda budget) wanna get me some jibs and dolly shots with an actual filmed more narrative piece. Ive had it with compositing getting a decent key from dv is painful and i had to have over 50 layers of clips in after effects gets a little bit confusing even when you are naming layers. I think next time im gonna hire a dogsbody to do the mundane stuff ie preparing footage in photoshop and some rotoing. :grin:
 
this seems to be the new thing in music videos, this style of...i dont know what its called...but incubus, sheryl crow, modest mouse, and many others are using this style. Its amazing that someone with NO budget can still create the same look as an MTV video. Congrats, very impressive. What is the name of this style?
 
Thanks nowadays you can do ANYTHING with no budget the tools are out there we just gotta use em. Im not sure this style has a particular name i think they might look similar beacuse of shot talent composited with scratch environments the sheryl crow video by psyop is freakin cool lot of 3d work on that though and of course a huge team. This was just me shooting, making tea , editing and composoting. LOTS of COMPOSOTING. :shocked:
 
All done with After effects created 3d layers out of still objects trees grass etc (prepared in photshop) and then layerd them in 3d space adding your talent were you want and then animate a camera in after effects (i would reccomend using a null for this) add in some particles and a flare and voila.!
 
All in a nut shell, I wish it was that easy, you have talent, variation would have made this A video, A+.

Did you use the "Shatter" effect in After Effects to do the intro logo?

This site might seem very opinionated but of all the sites that I've checked out, this site has some of the best work I've seen!! So what I'm trying to say is don't be discouraged. Sometimes you have to just jump in, that's the only way you'll get better!!
 
Yep Derrick was the shatter effect at the beggining. I originally planned to have the bands name made up of the the suit particles (diamonds, hearts, spades etc) that fall down so that it would explode upwards then falls down. Thanks guys.
 
Good work. But, as it has been said, variety in shots between closeups and such might add to the length at which a person watches.
 
Yep your right Derrick particular is great and its what i used in the video. I did use particular but with the extra 4 layers of particles at the beginning for the word shatter it bought my imac to its knees. I might get round to tweaking it someday.
