Help!

Hey y'all! I just got my HVX200. Just wondering if anybody have suggestions about good cases (hard preferably). How about Pelican? Which one will be the best fit?

Also additional batteries (which ones are the best and cheapest of the generic ones?, what kind -duration-?)

UV filter (cheapo)?

Best tapes? (I didn't get the P2)

Please help me out. I maxed out my credit card with the camera so I have a very limited budget for extras... Finally, any ideas about extended warranties and insurance?

I will really appreciate your help!

Just remember, PENNY WISE POUND FOOLISH... Don't rush into buying something cheap, because it might not last or might damage your investment..

It all depends on what you want to put in it? I for one, purchased the PELICAN 1650 case.. It's LARGE! but I can fit the camera, matte box, wide angle lens, batteries, and a whole bunch more.. most of all it's safe and you can get on a plane with it without getting charged more. But you should check out COAST TO COAST SAFETY - 800-554-5683 I think they have a website too?
They have great prices, and are fast to ship!

This is one thing I can not reccomend.. I only buy panasonic batteries.. Trusting your power to anything other could damage your unit.. I don't trust anything else.. But I'm sure you can find many off brands around then net..

UV filter (cheapo)? It's like buying a pair of cheap perscription lenses.. They'll hurt your eyes.. A UV filter made out of cheap glass could hurt your images.. It's a worthy investment to get a TIFFEN or Century optics UV filter.. They are around $50 at www.bhphotovideo.com..

Best tapes? (I didn't get the P2)
I tend to think the SONY Digital Master tapes are the best.. All depends on your project.. If it's super low or for MTV (they dont give me enough money to get the good ones), just get the SONY Premiums at your local electronics store..

Get the MACK 4 year Digital PRO warranty.. Never used it (knock on wood) but I hear only good things about the company... (www.mackcam.com) call them to make sure you get the right one.. I paid $399, but you might be able to get it for less at b and h??

I will really appreciate your help!

I just ordered one of these, the Storm case with insert (scroll about halfway down the page): http://www.zacuto.com/universal.htm

tape: Panasonic AY-DVM63MQ 63 Minutes Mini DV Master Quality Video Cassette. EVS, B&H, any reputable store that carries a reasonable inventory.

Batteries: DVXUser batts . . . you will not beat 'em for the money,

Filters: I would guess you are not buying a mattebox anytime soon so get a good 82mm (round) filter -- "cheap" would be a waste of postage.

No P2 cards . . . What's up with that? You bought an HD camera but have no way to record HD . . . through an extra $600-650 on that credit card and get at least one. Otherewise you may want to consider returning the HVX for a DVX100B.

Just my opinion . . .

Best!
