I really think FCP7 log and transfer is corrupting my avchd footage. Looking at cineform, rgbto5d etc…Transfer rates are wicked slow and don't know how realistic it is to use in our workflows. I'm on an i5 quad/64bit system and it took 30 minutes to transcode one 14 minute interview. Multiply that by a full day's shoot and that accounts for a lot of time. In theory, I could have edited the entire piece in the time spent waiting.
Suggestions, help or thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I've noticed that on longer clips, AVCHD ingest in log and transfer takes exponentially more time than short clips.

If you aren't up to that standard, it would be appropriate to find some place else to play.

I would try Clipwrap for AVCHD files. I recently had a project were some of the cards were corrupted (not my fault, just the camera people didn't do quality assurance check) Log and transfer worked for some clips but for other things it didn't. ClipWrap was easy to use and presented not problems. It's a $50 app but it's well worth it

Are you saying that you see visual corruption in the clips, or are you just complaining about long transcode times? Because a long transcode has nothing to do with corruption, and may be perfectly normal depending on a hundred different variables.

And it's possible that your shots were, lets say not so pristine, when they were recorded in camera.

Never said anything about corruption.

A clip that is 30 seconds long will take a few seconds to ingest on an i7.

A clip that is 30 minutes long will take at least an hour on that same system.

I can get around this by shooting short clips or ingesting portions of a clip at a time instead of the whole shebang. But this might not be an option if you need to multi-clip a long performance.

I can also use other software to edit AVCHD natively.
