Help! Zoom is freaking out!

When i use the rockers to zoom, for example zoom forward, the zoom ring begins to zoom backwards on its own after i've let go of the rockers. It seems like the zoom motor is running on its own....and also, the zooming on the handle doesn't work at all, regardless of positions 1, 2, or 3.
Any ideas, suggestions, or possible reasons for why this may be happening? any help would be greatly appreciated
 
Several people have reported this issue, and it's always come down to the same thing: their knuckles are interfering with the large zoom rocker when they're holding the camera by the handle. Could this be the same issue you're experiencing?
 
i wish the issue could be as simple as that.
It just seems that the handle zoom doesnt work at all, and only the rockers work. my main concern is with the automated reversal zoom that continues...i'll definitely take it to the shop and speak with the techs.
