HELP: Won't recognize QT file. Urgent. Firestore.

Hi. I recently captured a friend's sister's wedding, using an HVX and my firestore.

The shooting recorded a number of files, and nearly all of them work. One that doesn't, however, is a 1.95Gigabyte file which actually has some fairly memorable events immediately preceding the exchanging of vows. I know this because the 1.95Gig files which immediately follow, has the vows themselves. For a moment, I thought this might have actually -been- the vows. But I think it is the bride's approach to the altar, and the first half of a song on guitar.

Please tell me that I'm just not cursed, and that my HVX/FS-100 combo didn't just spontaneously decide to corrupt the -one- file that I can't afford to lose. Yes, this was a one camera set-up. My DVX freaked out due to condensation (it was outdoors).

When I open this file (or attempt to) using quicktime, it says: Error Opening Movie. The Movie Could Not Be Opened.

When I attempt to import this file into FCP, it says, Error: 1 files recognized. 0 access denied. 1 error unknown.

This is all from the same "take", (the file names are 20070707-10036j01, --j02, --j03, --j04, -j05. Only j01 refuses to open.

Please, please, please tell me that I have not lost this irreplaceable bit of data.

I've never encountered this traumatic problem as of yet (knock on wood), but there is hope.

If you refer to pages 75 and 76 of the v3.0 manual, it describes the procedure for both repairing the disk or more specifically to your situation, repairing the clip.

To repair the clip, go to the Utility menu of the FS-100, then select Repair Clip.
Using the Up and Down buttons, enter the number of the clip to be repaired.
Press Yes and it'll begin repairing the clip.
Once completed, it'll either say "Complete" or "Aborted".
If it's Complete, you're golden and can then transfer the file to your NLE. If she says Aborted - I'm afraid it doesn't explain any further action (besides format disk, before your next recording session).

I hope you can salvage it! Let us know.

Neal.

The problem is that I didn't exactly record them in P2, I recorded them straight to MOV, and it's odd that only this one file flipped out.
