Help with what I should buy...

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I think I'm in the right place. Anyways I'm really looking into buying a camera. I'm leaning toward a HPX 170 or a Sony EX-1, I'm having difficulty deciding. The hpx is significantly cheaper then the EX-1 but I've heard the EX-1 shoots the best footage. So basically I need some convincing to go either way. Please help me. If I am in the wrong forum don't flame me too bad please :-)

The big shooters in this forum will all say the same thing-

"I all depends on what you want to do with it".

Noobs like me will say, "I chose my HPX over the competition because of......

Price
Robust P2 over SxS/tape
Uncompressed Audio
DVCPRO HD
CCDs over CMOS
and...Price (I'm new at this so why spend an extra 2K to find out I'm not good at it).

Good luck

- the dvcproHD format of the hpx is a joy to work with (im a mac user with FCP)
- in 3 years i have never had a single issue with P2 cards
- the sony uses a rolling shutter vs the hpx global shutter. rolling shutters have issues with rendering straight vertical objects.

- the ex is better in low light

so im gonna say hpx : )

HPX. The skew in ex is gastly. Infared issues in Blacks, ugly. I've said this b4 but once we had one in our IT dept. (i work at a new station during the day) All the IT guys used pronounced "air quotes" when calling it an """"hd camera""""""". I thought that was hilarious, but not only that but I'm looking at the monitor and with very slow steady panning the image was all skewed and wobbly, looked like the wayne's world effect.
I've seen some people do some nice stuff with the cam, but I've seen alot more ugly ex footage. And the nice stuff has hardly any camera moves(boring). anyways thats my opinion.
